Who we are

Kuli (www.kuli.dsolk.com) is run by Digital Solutions Lanka. This notice explains what personal data Kuli holds, why, and your rights under Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022. Contact: support@kuli.dsolk.com.

Two kinds of data

  • Your account: your name, phone number, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), business details, plan and payments to us. For this, Digital Solutions Lanka decides how the data is used (we are the controller).
  • Your renters' data: the renters, agreements, invoices, payments, meter readings, documents and messages you enter about your tenancies. For this, you (the landlord) decide what is collected and why; Digital Solutions Lanka stores and processes it only to provide Kuli to you (we are the processor). You are responsible for having a lawful reason to hold your renters' details and for telling them you use Kuli.

What we use data for

  • To run Kuli: sign-in, rent schedules, invoices, receipts, reminders by WhatsApp and email, reports.
  • To bill you for your plan and to contact you about your account.
  • To keep the service secure: sign-in records, rate limits and an audit log of important actions.
  • e do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else sees it

Only the services needed to run Kuli: our hosting provider; the email service we send through; the WhatsApp service a landlord connects; the payment services you choose to pay with (for example PayHere, PayPal, your bank, LankaQR, UPI or a crypto network); and, if the help chat is switched on, Anthropic, which answers help questions (the chat does not see your account's data). Some of these providers are outside Sri Lanka.

How long we keep it

While your account is open. When you close your account, everything is deleted 30 days later, except records of payments made to us, which we keep as the law on accounting requires. Backups are overwritten within 14 days.

Your rights

You can see and correct your details in Kuli, download all your data at any time (Settings » Your data » Download all my data), and close your account (Settings » Your data » Close my account). Renters who want to see, correct or remove their details should ask their landlord; we will help the landlord do it. For anything else, or to complain, write to support@kuli.dsolk.com. You may also complain to the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka.

Security

Connections are encrypted, passwords are hashed, uploaded slips and documents are stored privately and only shown to the people they belong to, and the database is backed up daily.

Changes

We will tell account owners by email before any important change to this notice.
